POKER NIGHT
Another successful POKER CLASSIC FUND RAISER was held at the WHITE HORSE last Friday night the 6th and yet again a fun evening was had. Again Conor Mc Cann was the master of ceremonies to ensure Ja was playing fair and that Adrian Mc Cabe was indeed on the ball. A great social night enjoyed by all but congratulation must go to Kenny Walker who seemingly taught his Mrs on Sunday night and she happened to bluff everyone including Ray on the final table to win 1st prize. We happened to give out a sum of £300 to the top 5 players and still raise £500 but yet again due to lack of players this figure could have been so much more!!! Why, after such planning and change of night, did so many footballers and friends let us down AGAIN????? In future.... every player whether atending or not MUST pay their £20 up front. It is such a shame as it is such a great nights craic for all players and non players.
Thanks again to Michael at the White Horse and all those who continue to support our club - SEE PHOTOS IN GALLERY
NEW SPONSORSHIP DEALS
Friday night, the 2nd May, was a magnificant confirmation of the development of Dulwich Harps GFC. The intention was two fold - Presentation for last seasons array of successes kindly sponsored by Thompson Landscapes: Mr Anthony Thompson and Mr Mick McArdle as well as offically accepting and acknowledging the generosity of our new and dedicated team sponsors - Ruddy Joinery and Ballymore Group
It is sometimes difficult to believe the steps our club have made over the last 4 years and as difficult as it may be in Sounth London to sustain the momentum and motivation it is a privilege to be associated with the many industrious, devoted and pleasant club colleagues. The presentation night was well supported by club officials, club unofficials and team players to celebrate and share the two main awards which were presented by our sponsors: The awards and the winners were:
DULWICH HARPS HALL OF FAME - Mr Tom Denning
DULWICH HARPS PLAYER OF THE YEAR2007/8- Kieran Counihan
The night continued with an appreciation to Mr. Lee Ruddy of Ruddy Joinery (www.ruddy.co.uk/index2.htm) for his kind sponsorship. The rest of the evening was greatly enjoyed by the singin talent of Dulwich Harps player Stevie Nolan and band, lilting out some classics and wonderful Irish renditions for all to join in with. Thanks must go to PRO Jeff Kelly for his work behind the scenes and the sucess of what was a wonderful occassion.

CLUB MEETING WEDNESDAY 16TH @ 8PM SHARP
ALL PLAYERS MUST ATTEND TO DISCUSS WAY FORWARD
It must also be noted as mentioned previous, of the extremely generous sponsorship of the Poker night early in the year by several generous and potential investors. Through constant badgering from Jeff Kelly our PRO we are now able to look to the new season with hope, grit and determination. With the funds collected we are able to purchase another new kit, training essentials, insurance, coach hire, prizes, contribute to the annual London GAA 'nuisance' draw, Gaelic footballs and other financial demands
We would like to publicly thank the following sponsors.

The setting up of a club under 16 and minor team was also discussed with the possibilities of some of the senior players going on a level 2 coaching course, this was to be investigated by Niall.
We agreed to send a letter to the county board detailing our concerns of the county board draw and the effects it is having on smaller junior clubs within the county, and that we will not be taking part as of next year.

WHAT A SEASON!!!
Mularkey Cup Winners &
Mc Ardle CupWinners 2007/8
TWO TROPHIES RICHLY DESERVED BY ALL.
It has been a long, long season for all players and club officials, epitomised the commitment of many loyal players. We still have one more final to play.. but no matter what happens, we have put a smile on CT and PS, friends we will never forget. (see gallery for photos)
Congratulations to Crafty Dessie on winning the POKER CLASSIC NIGHT
Although the night was an amazing success due to Jeff, and of course the craic with Conor and all the boys was mighty, it is still extremely disappointing to see the same boys dedicating their time and efforts to the survivial of the Club. I did recieve a few apologies prior to the event......but we can all do this!!!! We should be trying to build a culture of team confidence and reliability especially after such a wonderful season.
I must take this opportunity to Thank Jeff Kelly on his mammoth result of fundraising for the Poker night. He managed to get a staggering £800 from private Sub Contractors to sponsor the Classic. This is truely unbelievable but...Dessie has the hard cash to prove Jeff's worth. So again on behalf of the club - Thank you very much Jeff
Dulwich Harps are now celebrating the concluding chapter to what has been a long, too long and drawn out season. Reflecting on the teams successes we can look back with delight on the preparation and committment of a devoted and loyal bunch of lads who are passionate about the game of Gaelic football.
The early season took off remarkably, with new blood and old knees still showing strong. Flying to new heights was possible from the outset as magnificant performances early on reflected the magnificant training at Long Lane and the Rye. The season then approached the dreaded August and Holiday period where many lads had commitments and indeed the need to rest and play. Many of the boys travelled all across the globe as far as New Zealand, Cuba and indeed to the beautiful lands of exotic Ballyliffin. With these interruptions came frustration and several disturbances along with a few defeats in certain cup challenges but that was a learning curve and then!!!!!!!!
They got back on track....... Training was well attended and the lads showied some class even at such a late stage of the season.
With the evenings geting darker they had to switch to individual training. With Two cup finals under the belt and one more final it has been a magnificant season. well done boys.
Can I take this space to share our sadness in hearing that FEDA, our Donegal sharp shooter is leaving us to travel back home to the hills. He has been a wonderful club man, dedicated to the cause and committed to the culture of Dulwich Harps football. Feda, it was a pleasure and best of luck to you both in the beautiful Donegal.
Oh and by the way
